Privacy: your photo, your rules

What we collect

• Your email address, to sign you in. Nothing else is needed to join.
• Your postcode, if you give it, so we can show prices and places near you. We store the centre point of the postcode, not your address.
• The plain-English summary of anything you scan: the shop, the date, the items and prices, the provider and tariff, or the creditor and the amount.
• Your Cash Saved ledger: the savings we calculated for you.

What we never keep

• The photo or PDF itself. It is deleted within 15 minutes of upload, automatically. The only exception is a bill you tick to keep in your private vault; you can delete that any time.
• Card numbers, sort codes, bank account numbers, National Insurance numbers, and your own phone number or email if they appear on a document. These are stripped before the summary is saved.
• Location from your phone. We use the postcode you type, never GPS. Photos are stripped of their location tags on upload.

Who can see it

You, and anyone you add to your household. Nobody else. Your household’s data is kept apart from every other household’s in the database itself, not just hidden by the website. Businesses listed on LiveCheaper see how many people clicked through to them and from which postcode area. They never see who.

What we do not do

• Sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
• Send marketing emails. You get sign-in links and the contract warnings you asked for.
• Show adverts to a household that has scanned a debt letter.
• Use your scans to train anything or to target you.

Who else handles your data

Your documents are read by an AI document reader run by Anthropic, under terms that do not allow them to train on your data. Your files are held briefly in encrypted cloud storage in the UK or EU. You sign in by emailed link; we store no passwords. Your visits are counted by our own server: the page, where you came from and the kind of device, with your internet address kept for 30 days so we can tell people from automated traffic, then deleted. Google Analytics runs only if you accept cookies, with addresses anonymised; block it and everything still works.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold on your account page, download it, or delete your account and every scan with one button. You can also email us and we will do it for you. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in. Analytics uses another, which you can refuse. That is all.
