Business terms
Terms for businesses, in plain English
What a listing is, what an advert is, what you pay, how ranking works, what you can and cannot do about a rating, and how either of us can end it. Short enough to read before you claim a listing.
These terms apply to any business that claims or creates a listing on LiveCheaper, replies to a rating, appeals a rating, or runs an advert. By doing any of those you accept them. They sit alongside the household terms and the privacy page. Last updated 6 September 2026.
1. Who we are, and who you are
LiveCheaper is run by No Fear Tech Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. “You” means the business named on the listing and the person who claimed it, who confirms they are entitled to act for that business.
2. Listings are free and stay free
- A listing shows your name, category, area, description, website and phone, and the ratings households give you. It costs nothing, now or later.
- We may seed a listing for a business before anyone claims it, from public information, so households can find it. Claiming it makes it yours; asking us to remove it removes it.
- You may edit the description and contact details. You may not edit, buy or remove ratings, the score, the badge, or your position.
3. How ranking works, and what money cannot change
- Households that use you through LiveCheaper are asked three yes-or-no questions once per job: was the price honest with no hidden fees, did it save money or solve the problem, would they recommend you.
- Your score is the share of yes answers over the last 90 days, shown once you have five answered ratings. 95% or more earns the Household Hero badge and first place. Between 75% and 95% is normal rotation, ordered by score. Under 75% is probation with reduced placement; still under 75% after 30 days on probation and the listing is delisted, whether or not you advertise.
- Nothing you pay changes where you appear. Adverts, listings and the directory are all ordered by the score, ties shared at random. This is the promise we make to households and we will not make an exception for any business.
4. Ratings, replies and appeals
- You may reply once, in public, to any rating. Replies are shown to households next to the rating. Keep them civil and do not identify the household; we may remove a reply that does either.
- You may appeal a rating once if you believe it is not genuine: no such job, wrong business, a competitor, or a dispute already settled. A person reads every appeal, usually within five working days. While it is open the rating counts.
- If we uphold the appeal the rating stops counting and your public page says one rating was removed after appeal. If we reject it the rating stands with our note. Our decision is final, and we log every one.
- Ratings that show signs of manipulation, such as one household rating the same business repeatedly or a burst of perfect scores, may be removed by us without an appeal. Attempting to manipulate ratings ends the listing.
5. Adverts
- There are three advert types: local listing, spotlight, offer. Each is described on the pricing page with its rate.
- You pay per thousand views at a flat rate for the advert type. The base rate is published on the pricing page; a listing advert pays the base rate, an offer pays one and a half times it, a spotlight twice it. Every advertiser pays the same for the same type.
- You set a monthly budget and a radius around a postcode. The advert shows only to people whose postcode is inside the radius, stops the moment the budget is reached, and starts again on the first of the next month. You can pause, edit or end it at any time.
- A view is counted when the advert is rendered on a page. A click is counted when someone taps the website, call or offer code. We drop views and clicks from automated visitors. Our count is the count.
- Adverts are marked as adverts, show your rating, and link to how adverts work. They never appear to a household in Shield Mode, on debt help pages, in the benefits finder or in Helpful Tips.
6. What an advert may say
- It must be true, about your own business, and something you will honour. Prices, offers and conditions in an advert are promises the ratings will test.
- No “best”, “cheapest” or “number one” claims: households decide that with their ratings. The composer rejects them.
- We may pause an advert that is misleading, unlawful, offensive, or the subject of complaints, and we will tell you why in your portal. A paused advert spends nothing.
7. Paying
- On the first of each month we issue one statement for every advert viewed in the month just ended, itemised by advert. Payment is due within 14 days, by the link on the statement or by the details we send.
- Unpaid statements after 30 days pause your adverts until settled. Listings are never paused for non-payment.
- Prices are in pounds sterling and exclude VAT, which is added where it applies. We may change the base rate with at least 30 days’ notice by email; the change applies from the next month.
8. Your data and your customers’ data
- We show you what is needed to run a listing: views, clicks, postcode areas of enquiries, and ratings with the household’s postcode area and date. We never show you who a household is.
- You must not try to identify a household from a rating, contact one about a rating, or use anything from LiveCheaper for marketing outside it.
- We do not sell, share or rent your data. We do not run pixels or tracking on households on your behalf, and we do not accept them in adverts.
9. Ending it
- You can end an advert, or ask us to remove your listing, at any time. Adverts stop at once; you pay only for views up to that moment. Ratings already given stay on record for the period they count.
- We can end a listing for a breach of these terms, for attempted rating manipulation, for repeated advert complaints, or after delisting under section 3. We will say why.
10. The usual, kept short
- LiveCheaper is provided as it is. We aim to keep it accurate and available but do not promise you a number of views, enquiries or customers.
- Our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, except where the law does not allow that limit. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything the law says cannot be limited.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and its courts. We may update them; material changes are emailed to the address on your account at least 14 days before they apply.
Questions about any of this: reply to any email from us, or write to the address on the household terms.
