Local businesses

Rated by your neighbours. Nobody can pay to be first.

Every business here is listed free and ordered only by what households said after using them: honest price, saved money, would recommend. Pick a category and type your postcode.

Or go straight to your postcode district

What things cost there, who is rated well, and how many neighbours have started.

Ordered by ratings, full stop

Household Heroes first, then by score, then nearest. Paying to advertise changes nothing here.

Three honest questions

Was the price honest? Did it save money or solve the problem? Would you recommend them? Asked once per job, only of people who used them.

Reply and appeal

Businesses can answer any rating in public and appeal one they believe is not genuine. Every page shows how many were removed that way.

Garage listings come from the DVSA register of approved MOT test stations; food shops and their hygiene ratings from the Food Standards Agency. Both are open government data. A business can claim its listing free and add its own details.

Questions about local listings

Is this the same as the adverts?

No. This directory is free for every business and shows everyone listed. Adverts are a separate, clearly labelled surface on other pages. Both are ordered by ratings; money never changes the order of either.

Why do some businesses have no score?

A score appears after five verified ratings in the last 90 days. Until then you see how many ratings there are and nothing more, so one early opinion cannot make or break a business.

How do I rate a business I used?

Open the business page and tap the button that says you used them. You get three yes-or-no questions, once, and the business can reply in public.

Know someone this would help?

Send it over. It is free, there is nothing to sign up to, and nobody gets sold to.
