Save money by growing your own fruit & veg

What is more satisfying than good quality food? How about a few fresh strawberries on your breakfast in the summer? What about a baked potato you grew yourself?

Most basic fruit & veg are easy to grow even for the beginner, there are many books in the local libraries or you can take a look through our books selection.

Many people think a greenhouse or expensive tools are required. Whilst it can be helpful to have all the fancy gear, you can grow simple fruit & veg in cheap or recycled containers or even in the flower beds between the existing flowers. We have cherry tomatoes in cheap hanging baskets bought in an end of season sale in a supermarket. You can use plastic drink cups or even properly washed plastic meat trays to start the seeds in. Window sills make a good alternative to a greenhouse for starting seeds.
